CURRICULUM VITAE

Aleksandar Ž. Rakić was born in Zrenjanin, Serbia, on September 27, 1975. He received the Dipl. Ing., Magister, and Ph.D. degrees, all in electrical engineering (process control) from the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering, Serbia, in 2000, 2004, and 2010, respectively.

Since 2001 he has been affiliated with the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering, Serbia, where he is currently Docent (Assistant Professor). His teaching activity at Signals & Systems Department include following undergraduate courses: Control Systems 2 (Continuous and Digital Linear Control Design), Nonlinear Systems 1 (Analysis of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems), Nonlinear Systems 2 (Conventional Nonlinear and Fuzzy Control Design), Robust Control, Multivariable Control, Neural Networks, as well as several advanced M.Sc. and Ph.D. courses at the same department.

Aleksandar Rakić is the coauthor of a university textbook on Signals & Systems. He published nine papers in international journals within the JCR (SCI) list and more than 40 other journal and conference papers. Aleksandar Rakić participated in five international scientific projects, as well as in several domestic research & development projects supported by Ministry of Science, Republic of Serbia.

Aleksandar Rakić has been the member of the IEEE since 2001, where he is currently the Vice Chair of the Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Chapter at IEEE Serbia and Montenegro Section (other IEEE society memberships: IAS, IES and PELS). Aleksandar Rakić has been the member of the national ETRAN society since 2001. He is a reviewer for multiple peer–reviewed journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Systems Journal, Electrical Engineering, Robotica, Engineering Review, Serbian Journal of Electrical Engineering, Telfor Journal, Tehnika, as well as conferences (TELFOR, ETRAN, INDEL, etc.).

The professional activity of Aleksandar Rakić is also being realized through the School's business cooperation program. He has been holding the position of the Consultant for Automation and Process Control with the enterprise of UNIT-EM, Malta, and its subsidiary UNIT Engineering, Serbia, from 2004 to the present time. He led, consulted, or took part in the several engineering projects implemented in South-East Europe region (Bosnia, Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro), involving the fields of Advanced Metering Infrastructure for the Smart Grid, building automation, HVAC, SCADA, and embedded systems design & implementation (x86, PIC, ARM, and proprietary hardware platforms).

His current research interests include control design in electrical drives, power electronics, unmanned aerial vehicles, distributed and networked systems, as well as advanced metering and customer-side systems within the smart grid.
